Dr Claire Berman is a Holistic Medical Psychotherapist based in Benoni, Johannesburg. She is a Medical Doctor with vast experience and training in psychotherapy.Her focus is on mind-body healing. Each patient is treated as an unique individual and encouraged to fully participate in their healing. Therapy is tailored to meet your needs. You will learn to understand and heal from present and past hurts, so that you can move forward and find your joy. 

ALL APPOINTMENTS ARE CONDUCTED ONLINE VIA SKYPE OR WHATSAPP VIDEO CALL for individuals and couples. Psychotherapy includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Hypnotherapy, Relationship therapy,Stress management, Relaxation therapy and Sports/ Dance  psychology.  

Therapy covers anxiety disorders (including panic disorder and post traumatic stress), mood disorders (depression, post natal depression, management of bipolar mood disorder), relationship problems, stress management, sports and dance psychology, emotional eating disorders, presurgery hypnosis, covid fatigue, compassion fatigue (especially for health care providers) and others.

  • BREATH WORK
    Breathing techniques are an essential part of all forms of therapy. Without breath there is no life
  • ANXIETY
    This is the body’s natural response to stress .When not managed, it can lead to fear and a feeling that something bad may happen. Anxiety may cause many physical symptoms such as rapid breathing, increased heart rate, restlessness and memory and concentration problems. Dr Claire Berman will first diagnose you and then she may recommend lifestyle changes and psychotherapy and, if required, medication.
  • DEPRESSION
    Depression is a Mood Disorder that can interfere with daily living. It affects the way you feel, think and behave and may result in emotional and physical problems. Signs and symptoms of depression include sleep disturbances, change in appetite and weight, lack of energy and trouble thinking and concentrating. Psychotherapy is strongly recommended to help manage the symptoms and deal with the underlying causes.Medication may be required.
  • STRESS
    This is the body’s reaction to change or overwhelming circumstances and triggers the fight or flight reaction. Excess stress can lead to chronic pain, digestive problems, headaches and fatigue and many other symptoms. Dr Claire Berman recommends psychotherapy, a healthy diet, regular exercise, meditation and relaxation techniques to help manage stress.
  • MIND BODY HEALING
    Mind–Body techniques are recommended to enhance the mind’s positive impact on the body. These include behavioural, psychological, social and spiritual approaches. Techniques include mindfulness, clinical hypnosis, meditation, tai chi and breathing techniques.
  • SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY/DANCE PSYCHOLOGY
    Psychological skills are used to help athletes and dancers to reach optimal performance and well-being.
