• Premium Cataract Surgery
  Cataract surgery is the most common eye surgery that Dr Davey performs and is most often done to treat cataracts, the build-up of protein that clouds the eye's lens. Injury, age, diabetes, long term unprotected exposure to sunlight, previous eye surgery or even genetics can cause cataracts. Premium cataract surgery uses microsurgical techniques to restore vision by removing the clouded lens and replacing it with an intraocular lens made to the patient's specifications.
• Laser Eye Correction Surgery
  The most performed eye surgeries are LASIK eye surgery and transepithelial Photorefractive Keratectomy (tansPRK) to treat myopia (near-sightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatisms. In normal vision, the cornea bends or refracts light precisely onto the retina at the back of the eye, and when the light bends incorrectly, blurred vision occurs. Glasses and contact lenses can correct the vision but reshaping the cornea will provide necessary refraction also. Dr Davey will decide which laser is best suited for the patient's safety and optimum visual outcomes.
• Modern Cornea Transplants
  A cornea transplant is a surgical procedure that replaces the cornea. Dr Davey also performs DMEK and DSAEK cornea graft surgeries. Damaged corneas due to eye disease, keratoconus, corneal clouding, corneal infection, corneal dystrophy, or corneal injury can result in a corneal transplant. A clear cornea is necessary for good vision. The affected cornea will be removed and replaced with a clear donor cornea.
• Micro-Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS)
  Glaucoma is an eye condition that damages the optic nerve, which is needed for good vision and the damage is usually caused by abnormally high pressure in the eye. Glaucoma can lead to blindness for people over the age of 60 if untreated, but it may occur at any age. Micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) lowers the eye's pressure and can involve a modern microstent implant or microincision surgery. Dr Davey will determine the best treatment depending on the patient.
• Diabetic Retinopathy
  Diabetic Retinopathy is a complication of diabetes that affects the eyes due to blood vessels of light-sensitive tissue damaging the retina. The longer one has diabetes, the less controlled the sugar level, leading to the likelihood of this eye complication. Laser or focal laser treatment, panretinal photocoagulation, and injecting medicine into the eye are all treatments for diabetic retinopathy. Dr Davey will indicate which one is better suited to the patient.
• Oculoplastic Eyelid Surgery
  Oculoplastics, also known as oculoplastic surgery, is an umbrella for numerous surgical eye procedures and the structures surrounding the eye, such as the eye socket, eyelids, tear ducts and certain parts of the face. Upper or lower eyelid blepharoplasty, eye bag removal, eyebrow lifts, eyelid repair for entropion, and ectropion are some of the different reasons for oculoplastic surgery. Ptosis is done for functional purposes. Excess skin and muscle are removed from eyelids to offer a more youthful appearance whilst improving vision quality. However, Dr Davey may also return the eyelid's edge to a normal and healthy state above the pupil.
• Pterygium Surgery
  Pterygium surgery is a surgical procedure performed to remove noncancerous conjunctiva growths, also called pterygia, from the eye. Conjunctiva is the clear tissue that covers the white part of the eye and the inside part of the eyelids. Exposure to an excess of ultraviolet such as the sun, dry eyes, and irritation from dust and wind can cause pterygium. Dr Davey may recommend surgery when vision is affected or if symptoms are severe.
• Eye Injuries and Trauma
  Eye injuries range from minor injuries to being medical emergencies and often occur in the workplace, accidents, home, or sports. Tissue, bone structure and the area surrounding the eye may also be affected by eye trauma. Mechanical trauma, penetration, or blunt, chemical agents and ultraviolet and ionising radiation may result in surgery.
• Eye Infections
  Eye infections occur when bacteria, fungi, parasites, or viruses infect the eye or eyes, and there are various eye infections with different treatments and causes. Some eye infections are rare, but many are common and may occur differently depending on which part of the eye is infected. Pink eye or conjunctivitis, fungal eye infections and uveitis are types of eye infections. Dr Davey will allocate a treatment depending on the patient's diagnosis and severity.
• Keratoconus
  Keratoconus develops when the eye's cornea thins and gradually bulges outward into a cone shape which can cause blurred vision and light sensitivity. It usually affects both eyes and often starts affecting people from the age of ten years old. Glasses or soft contact lenses are treatment options for vision issues in the early stages of keratoconus, and a cornea transplant may be required if the condition increases in severity. Dr Davey will make a recommendation based on the severity of the condition.
• Dry Eyes
  When tears cannot provide enough lubrication for the eyes, dry eyes occur and can occur at any age, in any gender and in healthy people. It is common for elderly patients with malnutrition which results in vitamin A deficiency. Dr Davey may run tests to reveal the number of tears behind the eyelid to determine proper treatment and dry eye management, consisting of lifestyle changes, eye drops, and surgery for more severe patients.
• Macular Degeneration
  Macular degeneration or dry macular degeneration is an eye disorder common amongst people over the age of 50. It is a result of the thinning of the macula, which leads to blurred or reduced central vision. The macula is responsible for clear vision in a direct line of sight and is part of the retina. Dr Davey may recommend laser therapy or photodynamic laser therapy to treat this degeneration and prevent future vision loss.
• Uveitis
  Uveitis is an eye condition that consists of the swelling of the uvea, the middle layer of the eye and results from infectious or non-infectious inflammatory diseases which affect the middle part of the eye. It is not a serious condition, but it can cause a loss of vision if left untreated in severe cases. Dr Davey will recommend treatment based on a patient's condition, and surgical procedures such as implanting a device into the eye may be recommended.
• Retinopathy of prematurity
  Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) occurs when blood vessels in a baby's eye develop abnormally and only affects premature babies, most commonly premature babies who are 12 weeks early. Bleeding and scar tissue may occur and result in retina damage, vision loss or even blindness. Dr Davey will recommend treatment depending on the severity of the condition, including laser therapy or other surgical treatments.
